Went out this morning with my wife for a few hours fishing, We started out at the west end of Deer Island south of the Beau Rivage, This because of a menacing cloud formation that looked like it might cut our trip short, We caught a few small croakers and catfish, and the cloud moved on so we went to Katrina Reef on the north side mid reef, Started off on a good note with the wife hooking up with a good sized fish that went airborne abut 40 feet out from the boat, Looked to be either a lady fish or a Spansih Mackeral, could not tell from the sun glare, It spit the hook shortly after... That was followed by a steady stream of White Trout, Ground Mullet and an occasional Speckled trout, No specks were legal size, Then My wife decided to try my skills and patients by hooking a Stingray, I had left my Barb cutters in the truck by accident and had to deal with him in a different manner, After a short accessment of available tools, he went back in and swam away minus a 3 1/2" of his 4" barb. We ended up with 8 keepers in White trout and Ground Mullet which were given to an old friend who can no longer fish... ... No Pictures this time but will try to have them from now on....
Sounds like a decent day. Better than me anyway... I went out here in Maine a few days ago and we only caught one striper. Hoping for a better turn out tomorrow.
