well with the forecast for 1-3 foot with a light to moderate chop we stayed home this morning and are going to try some speck fishing this afternoon
we fished all public numbers yesterday out to 22 miles = lots of other boats - we did not anchor but instead drifted across the structure using reverse butterflied 8" white trout - which seemed to work really well
my dad brought me over a 100 3-4 ounce jigs he had made and he used them and managed to catch this barely legal amberjack after a struggle he ain't seen in a while - he was using a new setup he bought on the way down at bass por - a Penn 950 and a Tialus freestyle jigging rod - the rod looks like a pencil but is rated 5-100# and never flinched at all with the amberjack which was only 28" - it was red and white - looked really good in the water
heres a few pics of the other fish as he caught them - will get a shot of the grouperand whole take home this am before i clean them
here is the 18" gag grouper we released
seas
another snapper
24" Gag Grouper action
also chased around a school of spanish but could find any takers - plenty of bait pods out there as well
total keepers and dads grouper from yesterday
